In the Service Army Pvt. David V. Labbate, son of Vincent Labbate of Freehold, has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla., where he received instruction in rifle marksmanship, weapons, tactics, and armed and unarmed combat. He is a 2003 graduate of Freehold High School. Army Pvt. Shan Ali, son of Tahiy Ali of Manalapan, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky. A 2003 graduate of Manalapan High School, his training included drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship, bayonet training, chemical warfare, and field training and tactical exercises. Army 2nd Lt. Daniel S. Krentzman, son of Nancy M. Aumack of Howell and Eric A. Krentzman of Freehold, has graduated from the infantry officer basic course at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The four-month course is designed to instruct new lieutenants in leadership, tactical and combat-related skills, and tasks that concentrate on practical battlefield training. Krentzman is a 2003 graduate of Kean University, Union, and a 1999 graduate of Freehold Township High School. Army Pfc. Larry D. Roach, son of Maxine Roach of Freehold, was deployed to Iraq to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom. A petroleum supply specialist normally assigned to the 864th Engineer Battalion, Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash., he has served in the military for more than one year and is a 2000 graduate of Freehold Borough High School. Marine Corps Pvt. Richard K. Moran, son of Margaret M. Moran of Howell, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., where during field training he and his fellow recruits performed close order drill and operated as a small infantry unit. He is a 2003 graduate of Freehold Township High School. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Adam J. Davis of Manalapan, who joined the Navy in March 1999 and is assigned to the amphibious command ship USS Blue Ridge — forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan — hosted U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld during Rumsfeld’s recent visit. Davis’ ship serves as the 7th Fleet command ship with a crew of more than 800 sailors. While there, Rumsfeld commended the crew of Blue Ridge and the 7th Fleet for their devoted service and sacrifices. Army National Guard Pvt. Ahhen K. Tatum, son of Frances and stepson of Chris Tatum of Howell, has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. A 2003 graduate of Howell High School, he received instruction in drill and ceremonies, rifle marksmanship, weapons, map reading, military courtesy and Army history. Army Pfc. Wilfredo Reyes, son of Rosa I. and Wilfred Reyes of Freehold, has graduated with honors from the wire systems equipment repairer advanced individual training (AIT) course at Fort Gordon, August, Ga. A 1997 graduate of Freehold Township High School, the soldier learned skills and acquired knowledge needed to identify faults; replace, remove and repair parts; rewire equipment; interconnect components; and adjust all levels of manual and automatic telephone switchboard equipment. |
