The issue of illegal immigration in Freehold has become a statewide news story following the filing of a federal lawsuit that claims the borough is violating the rights of people to assemble and seek work by speaking with employers and by permitting the harassment of Hispanics by police. Both sides are due back in federal court in Trenton Feb. 6.
