"Track and Field News" selected its 2003 All-American High School Track and Field Team, and Freehold Borough High School’s Debra Vento was one of the five high jumpers named to the team.

Vento, now a freshman at Duke University, repeated as the NJSIAA Meet of Champions winner, both indoors and outdoors, during the year. The state champion had the second best jump in state history, 5-10 1/2, while winning those back-to-back state championships. Vento capped her scholastic career by winning the Adidas Outdoor National Championship, equaling her personal best, 5-10 1/2, in Raleigh, N.C.

Registration for the 2004 Freehold Township Little League season will be held on Friday (7-9 p.m.) and Saturday (1-4 p.m.) at Michael J. Tighe Park in the Activities Center. Registration is open to players born between Aug. 1, 1987, and July 31, 1997.

New players must present their original birth certificate, as well as three or more documents in the following categories, to prove Freehold Township residence: driver’s license, voter registration, school records, welfare records, federal, state and local records, support payment records, homeowners or tenant records, or utility bills. These documents must be presented at registration for new players. For more information, call (732)431-1152 or visit the league Web site at www.ftll.org.
