outing set for Oct. 7

Freehold Township Parks and Recre­ation will host its annual golf classic Oct. 7 at the Pine Barrens Golf Club, Jackson. Last year the golf classic raised more than $15,000 to sup­port programs and activities within the Free­hold Township park system.

Registration will be held 10:30-11:45 a.m., followed by a noon shotgun start. The play format is four-player scramble, and all golfers play from the best shot of the four. There will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, straightest drive, hole in one, best team, and most honest team.

The fee is $150 per person and in­cludes green fees, cart, range balls, prizes, awards re­ception (5 p.m.) and barbecue buffet. Registra­tion and fees are required by Sept. 22. For more information, call the recreation office at (732) 294-2190.
