Township officials helped to solve commuters’ problem

In his note to the editor, Kelly Barry states that Freehold Township and Anthony Ammiano, deputy mayor, should be showing support for the ratables in town and not 20 people. I don’t remember reading that the Raintree shopping center would close down because of a boycott by the commuters and residents in Raintree supporting them.

I can assure Mr. Barry there were many more than 20 people not shopping at the shopping center.

Never once did Mr. Ammiano or anyone from the township call and say they agreed with the boycott. In fact, they discouraged the boycott.

However, because of the negotiations between Mr. Ammiano, the Township Committee and NJ Transit, we now have a bus stop on Wemrock Road outside the Raintree gate.

We should feel privileged to live in a place where the deputy mayor and the Township Committee do care about only 20 people who reside here.
