Prediction was wrong because President Bush lied I was wrong about Saddam Hussein unleashing massive attacks. I admit it. Why was I wrong? Because now it is very obvious Hussein never had the capability of delivering any weapons of mass destruction. Nothing at all has been discovered — no long-range missiles and no biological agents in any credible amount. Logic then says if Hussein didn’t have and/or couldn’t deliver weapons of mass destruction, then he was never a threat to our national security. Logic continues to say that this means President George W. Bush and his cronies lied to us all. Yes, they lied to get us into a war in which the infrastructure of another country, which was of absolutely no threat to us, has been decimated. Latest numbers are that more than 5,000 Iraqis, many women and children, have been murdered. Bush and his cronies were (and still are) so politically naive to think the Iraqis would immediately welcome "democracy." Well, after more than a generation of dictatorship, the masses there don’t even know what democracy is. If they don’t know what it is, they can’t embrace it. It will be interesting to see if a democracy ever arrives in Iraq. And by the way, I do not want even one American tax dollar used to rebuild Iraq. Their oil money should do it. Our tax money should be used to provide better education, health benefits and job opportunities for our own people. Remember the old saying "Charity begins at home." We need to solve our own problems first and not bankrupt our own country — which is where Bush is headed. Carol Abaya Marlboro |
