Performers sought
for summer events

A special events production company in Holmdel is seeking new recording artists, up-and-coming bands, and other talent to perform at summer festivals, street fairs, outdoor concerts and holiday celebrations throughout New Jersey.

Sylvia Allen, president of Allen Consulting Inc., books talent for nearly 100 special events that her firm produces annually for its nonprofit clients.

"We can’t pay performers because we don’t charge admission for the events," Allen said, "but the exposure is great because we draw big crowds, and the groups can sell their CDs. It’s a great way for them to get discovered and build a following all over the state."

Allen said many of her clients are downtown revitalization agencies hosting events that they hope will attract families and generate traffic for shops and restaurants and encourage repeat visits.

According to Jennifer Bent, events manager at Allen Consulting, mainstream groups are the best received at events the company produces. "Versatile entertainers that appeal to all ages are the most popular," Bent said. "These aren’t the right venues for metal, alternative rock or techno."

To be considered, send CDs, tapes, photos, press kits, resumes or bios and at least two references by mail to Bent at Allen Consulting, 89 Middletown Road, Holmdel 07733; or by e-mail to events@allenconsulting.com.
