The Marlboro Blaze completed a perfect season on the baseball diamond, winning the USABL 9-year-old World Series crown with an 8-0 win over the Lincroft Cyclones at Marlin, Marlboro. With the win, the Blaze finished their season with a 12-0 mark. Peter Calamia tossed a one-hit, complete-game gem for the Blaze. Mack Levine had three RBIs and Zack Kleinman, Jonathan Bobrow, Ben Radin, Mike Imperato and Calamia each knocked in a single RBI.

Catcher Bobrow threw out two runners attempting to steal a base in the first inning, letting the Cyclones know that they were not going to be able to run on the Blaze. Calamia carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning when, with one-out, the Cyclones Michael Martocci singled to left, ending the no-hit bid. The Blaze outscored the opposition 116-18 during their 12-0 campaign. The USABL win was just the latest in a string of successes for the youngsters. They won the Hazlet and Old Bridge summer tournaments and were second at the Marlboro tournament.

The Blazers are: Jonathan Bobrow, Peter Calamia, Steven Curtis, Andrew Feldman, Michael Imperato, Zach Kleinman, Joseph Kracke, Mack Levine, Ben Radin, Kenny Richardson, Anthony Sofo and Kevin Vitale.
