Library reaches

circulation milestone

The Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Manalapan, is one of the busiest public libraries in the United States, according to recent circulation figures.

For the second consecutive year, the library headquarters has reached a public library milestone — a circulation in excess of 1 million items at a single building. To date, no other single public library building in New Jersey has circulated 1 million items in one year.

At the close of business on Nov. 18, a report indicated a total of 1,002,496 items circulated at headquarters since Jan. 1. The library reached this milestone five weeks earlier than last year, when the 1 millionth item was circulated on Dec. 21.
