Former official calls for state to audit books

For 30 years I have lived in Manalapan, and I’ve spent 15 years as a member of the governing body. During that time, Manalapan enjoyed an excellent reputation as a well-run town.

It is with sincere concern for the residents of Manalapan that I suggest, Mayor Rebecca Aaronson, that a thorough investigation of the auditors along with a complete audit of the financial books and records be conducted by the Department of Community Affairs and the prosecutor’s office.

This theft of township funds is the fourth largest amount of money ever stolen from a municipality in the state of New Jersey.

The taxpayers of Manalapan deserve an honest explanation as to the mishandling of these funds.
