Blood center drive slated for Aug. 31 at Ice Cream Palace

The Blood Center of New Jersey, East Orange, will hold a blood drive Aug. 31 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Ice Cream Palace, Route 34, Aberdeen. Donors must be 18 or older, and 17-year-olds may donate with parental permission.

‘Selichot Family Picnic’

at Temple Shalom Aug. 31

Temple Shalom, Ayrmont Lane and Church Street, Aberdeen, will host a "Selichot Family Picnic" Aug. 31 at 6:15 p.m. The event is open to the public. Guests should bring picnic food. Drinks and desserts will be provided. Following the picnic, Rabbi Laurence Malinger will lead an informal Havdalah ceremony.

Aberdeen VFW to hold ‘Remembrance Program’

Guadalcanal Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post. No. 4745 and its Ladies Auxiliary will hold a "Remembrance Program" on Patriot Day, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at the VFW post at 699 Cliffwood Ave., Aberdeen.

The program will begin with a memorial service and wreath presentation, followed by a candle lighting, singing of "God Bless America," and a closing prayer. Refreshments will also be served.

Republicans to host

riverboat cruise Sept. 20

The Aberdeen Republican Club will host a riverboat cruise on the Navesink River from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Sept. 20. Food and beverages will be served. The cost is $35 per person and is limited to the first 45 people who respond. For more information, call Linda at (732) 290-1024.
