HARRIET THAYER BURKE, 93, of Englishtown, died Aug. 10 at Liberty Manor, Englishtown. Mrs. Burke was raised and lived most of her life in Garden City, N.Y. She was an art teacher in the Franklin Square Union Free School District, Franklin Square, N.Y., before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, David E., who died in 1954. Mrs. Burke is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Ellen Burke of Manalapan; two daughters, Carolyn Wilson of Savannah, Ga., and Ellen Burke of Kew Gardens, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Interment took place at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington, N.Y. RITA "JANN" HURLEY, 37, of Farmingdale, died Aug. 12 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Neptune, she was a lifelong resident of Farmingdale. She was an assembler at Air Cruisers, Wall, for 15 years. She is survived by a daughter, Jannette Hurley of Farmingdale; her father, Raymond Borden of Farmingdale; her mother and stepfather, Rita Mae and Paul Perkert of Hertford, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray L. and Denise Borden of Smithdale, Miss.; her companion and his daughter, Tom Ruggieri and Sarah Ruggieri, both of Farmingdale; and three nieces. Memorial donations may be made to the Sharing Network, 841 Mountain Ave., Springfield, 07081. GEORGE J. EVANS JR., 62, of Freehold Township, died Aug. 10 at Hudson Valley Hospital, Peekskill, N.Y. Born in Neptune, he had been a lifelong resident of Freehold. Mr. Evans was an electrical engineer at Bell Labs, AT&T, Holmdel, for 35 years before retiring. He was also a professional photographer, first in his father’s studio in Freehold Borough and then in Freehold Township following his father’s death. The studio served the area since 1944. He was a parishioner, vestryman and acolyte of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Freehold. He was a graduate of Freehold High School and Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Mr. Evans served on the Freehold Borough Council in the early 1970s. He was a member of the Freehold Rotary Club and the Monmouth County Historical Association. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Mary T.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Diane Birmingham of State College, Pa., and Brian and Roberta Birmingham of Morristown; a sister and brother-in-law, Cora and Bruce Janson of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren. The Burial Office and Holy Eucharist were celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. JOHN J. TRAHIM, 86, of Millstone Township, died Aug. 13 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Matawan, he lived in Marlboro and in Jackson for 20 years before moving to Millstone. He was a body man at General Motors Auto Assembly Plant, Linden, for more than 34 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Oakshades baseball team and was the manager of several other minor league teams in the Keyport/Matawan area. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Mike Palocin of Jackson, Catherine and Kenneth Dietrich of Matawan, Elizabeth and Steven Seminara of Wacabuc, N.Y., and Sue and Peter Kudrick of Millstone; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold, followed by interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. ROSE ANN M. WALSH, 63, of Manalapan, died Aug. 13 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Walsh lived in Manhattan before moving to Manalapan in 1967. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. She was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Alfred Bonsignore. Mrs. Walsh is survived by her husband, John M., former mayor of Manalapan; a son, Brian of Clifton; a daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and William Hoegler of Manalapan; a brother, Joseph Bonsignore of Northport, L.I., N.Y.; and two granddaughters. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro.
