Road work will cause Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) in Freehold Township will be closed on Monday between Jackson Mills Road and Ticonderoga Boulevard while road milling takes place. Motorists should expect delays and plan alternate routes, according to police. On Aug. 12-13, the same area is expected to be paved. Motorists should expect the same delays. Detours will be posted. Women’s club plans brunch at club Aug. 21 The Freehold Christian Women’s Club will present a Mommy and Me Fashions brunch on Aug. 21 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Battleground Country Club, Route 527, Tennent section of Manalapan. Cedar Drive School is No. 1 in Hoops for Heart Students at Cedar Drive Elementary School, Colts Neck, dribbled, shot and scored to help fight New Jersey’s No. 1 and No. 3 causes of death — heart disease and stroke. The young hoopsters participated this year in the sixth annual American Heart Association Hoops for Heart program, and their efforts led Cedar Drive School to be named Monmouth County’s top American Heart Association Hoops for Heart school by raising $3,935.50. The students’ efforts will help the American Heart Association fund research, find answers and save lives as well as support community programs and education. Hoops for Heart is an educational and fund-raising event geared for middle and high school students and is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance More than 40,000 students in the tri-state area participated in Hoops for Heart during the 2001-2002 school year, including students from more than 140 New Jersey schools. Cedar Drive School’s first-place position is followed by Joseph C. Caruso Elementary School, Keansburg ($1,5702); Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, Rumson ($625); Green Grove Elementary School, Neptune ($606); Joseph Bolger Middle School, Keansburg ($604); and Colts Neck High School ($603). Old Brick Church to hold vacation Bible school Old Brick Reformed Church, Marlboro, will offer a vacation Bible school for ages preschool through sixth grade.
