Woman’s Club to attend Oct. 24 state conference

The members of the GFWC Molly Pitcher Woman’s Club of Freehold will attend the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs’ annual fall conference Oct. 24 at the Forsgate Country Club, Monroe.

The year 2001 has been designated the "International Year of the Volunteer," and five members from New Jersey will be honored for their volunteer efforts. The morning program will include presentations on community improvement and the Valerie Fund, an organization for children diagnosed with cancer; a film on "Operation Smile Mission," a program dedicated to correcting cleft palates in children in other countries; and a presentation of awards.

The keynote speaker will be a representative from the United Nations, who will address the United State’s failure to ratify the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women. An international theme will include a luncheon, and reservations must be made before Oct. 10; call (732) 462-9164.

For information about membership, call (800) 465-7392. Women from the Freehold area interested in joining the Molly Pitcher Woman’s Club may call (732) 462-9164.
