Senator provides strong representation for seniors

It is ironic that we find a politician, state Sen. John O. Bennett - and I use the word "politician" loosely - who is honest and forthright as our senator in the 12th district.

Several months ago I received mail from Sen. Bennett advocating a substantial increase in the homestead property rebate for seniors. This was accomplished. Here I am, a registered Democrat, praising a Republican senator.

Speaking for myself and hopefully for all of the seniors in District 12 benefiting from this piece of legislation ($500 to $750), we all owe you, Sen. Bennett, a debt of gratitude for your concerns.

On another matter, I have sent the senator information concerning the well-being of the homeowners of Covered Bridge I. It is the Board of Trustees’ understanding that he is researching the matter at hand. This was publicized in the News Transcript and may become a vital piece of information in our complaint.

We, the homeowners of Covered Bridge I, are deeply grateful for his time and effort on our behalf. Sen. Bennett is giving us action and not rhetoric. We can’t thank him enough.
