Marlboro teens support a good cause

At a recent meeting of the Monmouth County Tobacco Coalition, I was pleased to hear a presentation by 10 students from Marlboro High School. These youths, all volunteers in their school’s Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Prevention Team, provided an overview of their many activities and projects.

The goal of all of their efforts is to reduce and prevent alcohol and drug abuse, including smoking, among their peers and younger kids.

On behalf of our board, I applaud these thoughtful, caring and dedicated youths who volunteer their time to help others and help themselves. They are role models as well as our leaders of tomorrow.

At a time when we hear so many negatives about our young people, these involved youths demonstrate so very many positives; they truly present a "front-page story" for all of us to commend.

Congratulations to these young leaders. Keep up the great work.
